1957 Controversial Nude Art Sculptures

These art sculptures caused quite a controversy in the late 1950’s. Located on the roof of a home in Villanova, Pa and sculpted by artist Newton Harrison. Harrison was born in New York City and studied at Antioch College and the Academy Of Fine Arts in New York. When he was a student at the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia, he was commissioned to sculpt the two figures. These sculptures caused quite a stir among the residents of the community.
